The Playbook
WHY STARTING
EARLY MATTERS.
Most parents wait until 9th grade to think about high school football. By then, coaches have already noticed the kids who showed up at camps, whose families sent emails, and who had highlight reels ready. The work happens long before tryouts.
This playbook gives you the roadmap to put your child ahead of the curve. Every step is intentional. Every action builds on the last.
01
Step One
Start Filming Now
Your phone is your kid's first recruiting tool. Film every game, every rep. Lead with the 3 best plays in the first 30 seconds. Keep it 2 to 3 minutes. Upload to Hudl or YouTube. Coaches decide fast. Make the opening count.
02
Step Two
Build Your Network
Attend local high school games now, even while your child is in middle school. Register for summer camps. Introduce yourself to coaches. Relationships open doors that talent alone cannot.
03
Step Three
Set Up Social Media
A dedicated public athlete account with their full real name. Bio: Name, Class of Year, Position. Post game clips, training footage, academic wins, and leadership moments. Coaches look.
04
Step Four
Reach Out to Coaches
One respectful email with the highlight reel link can open everything. The full playbook includes the exact template to use. One polite follow up if no reply after 2 weeks. Never more than that.
05
Step Five
Build Confidence Before High School
Bodyweight training, footwork, agility. Watch film of your position. Practice being coachable. Show up early. Stay late. NCAA eligibility starts tracking in 9th grade. Build habits now.
06
Step Six. Action Plan
